How do YOU start managing YOUR household?

Our "Household Management Starter Kit" is called "Taking Control" and is a simple Do-It-Yourself toolkit that gets you started in Household Management. We recommend that you take this small step first so that you start with a good understanding of your priorities (as a household).

  • Understand your life-style balance (you may have already done this at the Share Freely step)
  • Assess your relative values (you may already have done this at the Grow Assets step)
  • Plan your best way forward (you may have already started this at the Grow Assets step)
  • Get an organised household

Start "taking control" by first reading the Starter Kit Instruction Guide (4.5MB file). You could start very simply by getting all your household information organised in to one place by using myPersonal Manager. Alternatively you could start by creating your Household DNA that will identify what is important to both you and your partner and create a basis of balance and understanding between household members. As part of the Household DNA process you will be "Assessing Values and Risks" in your household. This activity makes the family discuss and understand what aspects of the Household DNA are most important. This information will then be available for you to make important decisions. The Starter Kit helps you determine the value of all the elements of your household, These are your "assets" and myActions Manager starts the planning process for household members to decide what needs to be done to improve the value of all household assets.

After completing the basic "Starter Kit" steps then will be ready to progress to the slightly more advanced process contained in the Advanced Kit, or click here to return to the Household Management overview page or click here to go to our Household Management Forms Library.
